The Phonetics Laboratory of the Department of Linguistics turns 70. The anniversary is celebrated in the lab on 25 November.
Research in phonetics at Stockholm University started in 1952, when two new departments with state-of-the-art laboratory equipment were established: the Phonetic Research Laboratory and the Phonetic Training Laboratory. They eventually developed into the Department of Linguistics in 1965. In addition to the linguistics of Stockholm University, both the Speech and Language Pathology Programme of Karolinska Institutet (KI) and the Division of Speech, Music and Hearing at KTH have roots that go back to the early activities of the Phonetics Laboratory.
Anniversary 25 November
The Phonetics Laboratory's 70th anniversary will be celebrated in several ways this autumn. A celebration is for employees and invited guests will be arranged on site in the taining lab on 25 November.
