Om mig
Ashin Vadakke Kulangara is originally from India. He completed his Bachelor of Technology degree in Chemical Engineering from Government Engineering College Thrissur (GEC Thrissur), India, and his Master of Technology degree in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar), India.
He is doing his PhD studies at the Materials Chemistry Division of the Materials and Environmental Department at Stockholm University under the supervision of Prof. Jiayin Yuan.
Ashin's research focuses on synthesizing and modifying biopolymers to enhance their ability to capture CO₂ from the atmosphere. The modifications aim to introduce functional groups that facilitate both physical and chemical adsorption of CO₂. Also using solid-state NMR spectroscopy, his study investigates the molecular interactions between CO₂ and the modified biopolymers. These insights into the molecular mechanisms of CO₂ sorption ultimately guide the development of more effective materials for reducing atmospheric CO₂ concentrations and mitigating climate change.
