Om mig

Esmé finished their PhD in Cinema Studies at the Department of Media Studies in December 2025. Their dissertation, "MILFS, Memes, and Merry Pranksters: The Paradoxical Visibility of the Lesbian Icon in the Platform Economy" investigated contemporary queer visibility through the phenomenon of the lesbian icon.

Their postdoc project, Transmasculine Visibility in/as Celebrity Controversy (2027-2028) expands their interest in contemporary queer visibility, celebrity, and the platform economy by exploring how sociotechnological controversy around gender non-conforming celebrities produces and structures contemporary transmasculine visibility.
