    Los derechos humanos, como están formulados en la Declaración de la ONU de 1948, se han convertido en una lingua franca. Hemos sido testigos, en el período de la postguerra, de una denominada Revolución de los Derechos Humanos con una gran cantidad de declaraciones y convenciones relacionadas con grupos vul-nerables como niños, mujeres, pueblos originarios, discapacitados. Se han intro-ducido poderosos mecanismos para la implementación de los derechos humanos, por ejemplo la Corte Europea de Derechos Humanos en Estrasburgo y la Corte Internacional de crímenes de la Haya. No obstante esta revolución en el área de los derechos humanos y la educación sobre los mismos ha quedado rezagada. Ha sido solamente en la última década que se han realizado intentos serios de incluir los derechos humanos en el curriculum y en diversas asignaturas en las escuelas de varios países alrededor del mundo. El mismo fenómeno puede ser apreciado en muchas universidades. Este artículo intenta analizar este silencio de la educa-ción en derechos humanos desde una perspectiva global y comprender por qué el proceso de formulación e implementación de esta educación ha sido tan lento. Otro tema que se plantea es cómo la educación de derechos humanos puede ser definida y practicada especialmente en distintos niveles de la escuela.

  • Conceptions Of Knowledge And Scepticism

    This study deals essentially with the problem of how to assess the strength of certain global sceptical arguments, such as, the infinite regress argument. The thesis consists of a critical discussion of four prominent theories of knowledge in the current epistemological debate. The discussed theories are: Laurence Bon Jour's coherence theory of knowledge, Robert Nozick's tracking-the-truth theory, Barry Stroud's Cartesian theory of knowledge and Edward Craig's contextualism. The critical discussion results in a proposal of an alternative theory of knowledge named the Best-Available Method-theory (or the so-called BAM theory). This theory has the advantage of not vitiating our ordinary intuitions regarding the concept of knowledge. The BAM theory also aims to explain the inclinations towards and against global sceptical challenges. It is stated that there are certain serious problems in challenging some of the sceptical philosopher's conclusions. Further, the BAM theory explains the attractions and the drawbacks of major, rival theories in the epistemological debate, such as foundationalism, coherentism and internalism, externalism. The upshot of the critical discussion could be seen as an ecumenical theory of knowledge.
