Karl Gustafsson Professor

Karl Gustafssons är professor i internationella relationer vid Stockholms universitet. Karls forskning behandlar internationella relationer i Östasien.

Hans artikel ’Memory Politics and Ontological Security in Sino-Japanese Relations’ belönades med Wang Gungwu-priset för bästa artikel publicerad i Asian Studies Review under 2014 och hans avhandling tilldelades Högskoleföreningen i Stockholms pris för bästa avhandling vid Samhällsvetenskapliga fakulteten vid Stockholms universitet 2011.

Karl har erhållit flera stora forskningsanslag, inklusive ett fyra-årigt anslag från Vetenskapsrådet för ett forskningsprojekt om ursäkter och erkännande inom internationell politik, samt ytterligare ett fyra-årigt anslag för ett projekt om kunskap, minne och makt på internet, finansierat av Marianne och Marcus Wallenbergs stiftelse.

Karl har tidigare varit postdoktor vid Lunds universitet och gästforskare vid Tokyo universitet, Osaka universitet, Keio universitet (Tokyo), Academia Sinica i Taipei samt vid Nordic Institute of Asian Studies (NIAS) i Köpenhamn.

Han är medlem i redatörsråden för de vetenskapliga tidskrifterna Review of International Studies och Central European Journal of International and Security Studies.

Karl har publicerat sakkunnig-granskade artiklar i akademiska tidskrifter som International Studies Quarterly, Contemporary Security Policy, European Journal of International Relations, International Politics, International Relations, Cambridge Review of International Affairs, Journal of International Relations and Development, Survival, European Political Science, Memory Studies, Review of International Studies, Cooperation and Conflict, China: An International Journal, Global Affairs, The Pacific Review, Asian Perspective och Statsvetenskaplig tidskrift.
