Klara Melin joined the Department of Economic History and International Relations in September 2021, where she pursues a PhD in International Relations with focus on Japan. She is affiliated with the European Institute of Japanese Studies based at Stockholm School of Economics and a member of the Stockholm University Graduate School of International Studies. Her research interests include the role of political culture in international relations, national identity, security studies, East Asia relations and Japanese foreign and security policy.
Klara holds a B.A. and an M.A. in Political Science from Stockholm University, Stockholm. Previously she has worked as a research assistant at the Swedish Defence University focusing on Russian disinformation and narrative alignment, as well as narratives on Sweden during the covid-19 pandemic. She has also worked with evaluating government programs and initiatives within a Swedish and European context.
