I am particularly interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms related to adaptation and their consequences on the phenotypic level up to influencing species divergence.
I've worked on a variety of organisms: insects (lepidoptera, mites), plants (flowering plants, trees) and now I'm discovering the wonderful world of fungi.
Currently, I'm studying the genome evolution of Verticillium longisporum, a soil-borne fungus that has been described as an important plant pathogen. The aim is to study the population structure of V. longisporum based on WGS and understand the genome dynamic of this species using comparative genomics tools.
Verticillium longisporum is also a good model for studying evolutionary convergence due to three independent hybridization events that led to three different lineages showing the same pattern of convergence to infect a small range of Brassicaceae plants.
