Om mig

Since 2012, I am teaching classes on all levels at the Unit for Cinema Studies, courses include undergraduate classes on contemporary media cultures; documentary Cinema; Gender and Moving Images; Master class in Film and Media Theory, ”Film Experience: Theories and Approaches”. Publications in peer review journals, themed volumes, as well as reflection pieces and short essays for cultural journals and online venues result from my longstanding research interest in cinema and philosophy, in cinema as a temporal artform and as a ”technology of memory”, in film and historiography. I am fascinated with the cultural, social and ideological implications of cinema and film cultures; with the formative role of moving images in the production and re-production of cultural memory, including the creative approaches and critical inquiries by filmmakers and visual artists that result in thought-provoking allegories of cinema, or re-framings of visual practices and screen cultures.

In recent years, my research has included archive-based inquiries into documentary production in the context of early Swedish television. My theoretical work has also been inspired by contemporary gallery film and installations, in the productive overlap between documentary cinema and experimental film and video.
