Course content
Multiple perspectives in planning, working and collaboration. Inclusive research considering the perspectives of children and care providers. Multidisciplinary collaboration, organization theories, interprofessional collaboration, shadowing techniques in social science research, ethnographic research methods, conflict resolution, policies and systems of interventions and provisions in special educational needs and inclusive education practices.
Learning outcomes
After having completed the course, course participants will be able to:
- Attain knowledge on the multidisciplinary research field of special and inclusive education and on interprofessional and stakeholder collaboration and inclusive research approaches in practice and research
- Gather insights on organizations and systems of interventions and provisions of support in the field of special education, through conducting a relevant small field study
- Apply appropriate qualitative methods and analyse collected observation data and interview data
- Identify and describe cases of shortcomings, barriers, pitfalls or stereotypes, which may hinder collaboration and understanding between disciplines, professions, roles and agencies.
- Identify and describe cases of experiences, best practice, achievements, partnerships, or systems, which may facilitate collaboration and understanding between disciplines, professions, roles and agencies.
- Formulate innovations and changes in order to address issues at various levels (i.e. local/global, practice, policy, research) in collaboration with relevant agents/stakeholders/participants and suggest initiatives and improvements.
Time schedule
Spring semester 2021 (quarter speed, 25%)
The course will be web based, with meetings on 8-9/2, 22/3, 19/4, 24-25/5. The dates are preliminary and changes may occur due to current Covid-19 situation. Link to schedule will be published later on. You can find the course schedule here.
Application
Application can be made until 2021-01-11.
The course will prioritize PhD students who are part of the Research School in Special Education, and PhD students in Special Education. Other PhD students will be accepted according to availability.
