Time: 10.00 – 11.30

"Who belongs here?: Immigration, criminal law and precarious membership" is the title of honorary doctor Katja Franko's lecture. Issues of immigration and belonging lie at the forefront of contemporary political and social debates. But how these discussions shape contemporary criminal law, and what role does criminal law play in them?

This talk will examine the intersections of criminal law and membership theory. It will ask what kind of consequences offenders’ membership status has for the state’s sanctioning practices, and in turn, how do state crime control practices impact the notions of belonging.
