What do you examine in your thesis?
”My thesis consists of three independent essays. In two of them, I examine urbanisation in low- and middle-income countries. I show that there is a link between how cities grow and population growth, and that cities grow more slowly if their surrounding areas are affected by drought. In the third chapter, my coauthors and I show that water pollution increases in districts that are more exposed to international trade in India.”
How can your results contribute to society?
”Hopefully, the results can be used to increase our understanding of urbanisation and international trade in developing countries.”
What will you do after your defence?
”In September, I start as a researcher at the Department of Economics at the University of Gothenburg.”
