My PhD project “Painful Subjects: Endometriosis, Embodiment and Recognition” is an interrogation of the chronic illness endometriosis, focusing on the relation between recognition and the lived experience of a condition that is invisible to others, difficult to diagnose and scarcely recognized in social and cultural as well as medical contexts.

The intention of the project is to shed light upon how participant observation has been used and debated in Nordic Ethnology and Folklore Studies in the last five decades, and to reflect upon its prospective future use.

The research school in Islamology is a collaboration between seven universities. Depending on the university, students are admitted to the research topic of religious studies, religious history, subject didactics and systematic theology. The purpose of the research school is to ensure that expertise in Islamology is kept alive.

The project explores conflicts about Drag Story Time in Sweden, where drag queens read stories to children. The focus is on the shifting and contradictory ideas about the child and the best interests of the child that are expressed in the debate, as well as the conceptions of gender relations, the future and the good society with which these are associated.

My research opens up the significance of both inorganic and organic prostheses across disability, transplantation and at the cellular level in the microbiome and microchimerism.

In public debates biology is often used to assert essential sex differences. Yet, evolutionary biologists themselves disagree over sex differences and their causes. This project aims at understanding how and why this controversy over sex differences emerged.

This dissertation intends to study women's experiences of the contemporary sublet market, as more or less temporary owners of a home. I’m interested in what ideas and expectations are linked to the subtenant with a special focus on gender, class, age and ethnicity.

The Research School Gender, Humanities and Digital Culture, which is partly funded by the Swedish Research Council, is a collaboration between the gender studies units at Stockholm University, Uppsala University and Södertörn University. A total of nine doctoral students are included, all of whom were admitted in the fall of 2023.

"The Roma in the European History of Magic: Transnational Entanglements of Race, Class, Gender, and the Occult, c. 1417 to 1900" is the first critical and systematic historical study of how Europe’s Romani minorities have been associated with “magic”.

Distinctly user-oriented, and with ethnographic methods, the project "The white cane as a lived everyday reality. An ethnographic study of rehabilitation, social materiality and bodily norms" explores the visually impaireds’ own experiences and attitudes towards the white stick.

The project "The 'Female Turn' in Evolutionary Biology – a science study of shifting canonical knowledge 1980-2000" explores how the international evolutionary research community radically shifted perspectives on the role of females in evolutionary biology. The project aims at understanding why and how perceptions of females changed.

Cleaning is a practice with low status. Most people single out cleaning as the least attractive of house hold chores and the people who clean as a profession are usually badly payed. This research project is an attempt to investigate the bad reputation of cleaning – in everyday life, in work, in popular culture and, not the least, in the feminist movement.

Historiography has often taken place from the winner’s perspective. In the writing of history where Christianity has been involved, its successes has often been emphasized. This perspective has often obscured the topic of the present project.
