The doctoral program normally comprises four years of full-time study and ends with a doctoral degree. You can also study for a licentiate degree, which includes two years of full-time study. The program comprises a total of 240 credits and consists of a course part (75 credits) and a dissertation part (165 credits). For the licentiate degree, 45 credits apply and 75 credits, respectively.

Some of the courses are given at the Department of Special Education but you can also study at other departments and universities. Throughout your study period you will receive scientific supervision, usually by two supervisors.

Your education ends with a dissertation for a doctoral degree or a licentiate seminar for lic. degree when the scientific work is defended at a public seminar. Your own research work is the most important and crucial part of your doctoral education.
