What it's like working with us and our working philosophy. 

 

The Department of Special Education offers an interdisciplinary educational and research environment. Subject areas represented are, in addition to special education, occupational therapy, sceience on children and adolescence, speech therapy, pedagogy, psychology, sociology and social work. A large number of scientific disciplines contribute to the academic breadth of the department.

Many of the employees have education and experiences in professions relevant to special education. In addition to special teachers and special educators, occupational therapists, teachers, speech therapists, nurses, sociologists and psychologists are represented. This means that the department offers both an interdisciplinary and an interprofessional environment, with good conditions for conducting relevant teaching and research.

The department runs professional programs as well as courses in lectoral education, independent courses and master's and doctoral education courses.

The technical and administrative staff support the teaching and research activities. The administrative activities also work to support and help prospective and active students as well as alumni.

The various department sections collaborate in the daily work and in evaluation groups, department boards and at department meetings.

The Department of Special Education also has a large international breadth that contributes to the creation of a dynamic work environment.
