The Department of Physics at Stockholm University is one of the larger departments within the Faculty of Science with broad basic research activities, both experimental and theoretical. The department has about 250 employees, including 95 PhD students, and it has an international character. Fysikum is part of the AlbaNova University Center, which is a strong research center, and which, in addition to Fysikum, includes the Department of Astronomy, the physics departments at KTH and the Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics, Nordita. Employees at the department are also part of the Oskar Klein Center for Cosmoparticle Physics, a rich scientific environment that includes more than a hundred researchers in both theory and experiment.
