How to apply for student accommodation

This step-by-step guide shows you how to complete your accommodation application online – from creating an account to submitting your documents.

The application for student accommodation is entirely online. To make sure your application is complete and submitted correctly, follow each step carefully and provide all required information before the deadline.

Step 1: Create your account

Follow these steps to complete your housing application through the online booking system.

1. Fill in your personal details and emergency contact. 

Make sure to use a valid email address that you check regularly. All communication will be sent there.

2. Fill in your study details. 

  • State your department and study programme.
  • Exchange students: enter the name of your department coordinator at Stockholm University.

If you're unsure, contact your department or programme coordinator. The Housing Office cannot assist with study-related questions.

3. Describe any special housing needs or requests.

  • You may also indicate if you plan to stay with your spouse or family. While we cannot guarantee specific arrangements, we do our best to accommodate your request.

4. Click Create account.

  • Check your inbox and spam folder for a confirmation email from the Housing Office.
  • Follow the link in the email to complete your account registration.
  • Enter your date of birth in the format YYYY-MM-DD. Your registration number will be generated automatically.

5. Choose a username and password, and save them. 

You will need these for the next steps.

 

Step 2: Complete your accommodation application

To submit a valid application, you must complete all three steps below before the deadline.

1. Complete personal data

  • Log in and fill in any missing personal information.

2. Choose your housing preferences

  • Select at least four different accommodation options. 
  • More choices increase your chances of receiving an offer.
  • Rank your preferences by clicking “Add as preference”.
  • Once finished, click the confirmation button: “I am satisfied with the choice of preferences I have made.”

3. Upload a copy of your passport or valid ID.

  • You must upload a valid ID to complete your application.
  • If your ID is expired or being renewed, upload the current version now. You can update it later.
 

When your application is complete

After you have completed all steps and submitted your application: 

  • You will receive a confirmation email.
  • Your application will be placed in the housing queue.
  • Offers are made based on availability and your selected preferences.
