The Swedish Research Council has decided on who will be awarded Kerstin Hesselgren's guest professorship for 2027. The professorship is awarded to internationally prominent female researchers in the social sciences or humanities. The guest professorship for 2027 is awarded to Jennifer Clapp from Waterloo University in Canada. She will be active at the Department of Human Geography, Stockholm University.
The reasoning for the decision:
“Jennifer Clapp is a leading scholar in the research field of food security, environmental sustainability, and global economic dynamics. Clapp’s work departs from the characterization of the current situation as a multi-crisis: food security is threatened by the accelerating climate crisis; pandemics and wars cause shocks in supply chains; extreme concentrations of wealth contribute to global failures to reduce world hunger. To address these issues, Professor Clapp approaches them from an international political economy perspective, analyzing international dependencies and political and economic processes.”
