His teaching and academic supervision areas are in international and comparative education, higher education, and applied leadership.

He is currently working with an international team on a Nordpath project which involves the development of online courses focusing on intercultural communicative competencies for five Nordic universities.

The tool aims to benchmark, track, and scaffold higher order skills (creativity, communication, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and reflective thinking) for any academic course or program. Piloted over several years, the PAT has demonstrated cultural dimensions to learning, along with institutional and disciplinary difference.
Brian has held a number of positions in comparative and international education over the years:

2014-2016 Secretary-General, World Council of Comparative Education Societies (WCCES)
