I am passionate about many questions that have to do with teaching and learning. My interests range from language to music, and include future schooling, historical views on education and applied technology.

Research Highlights

Language teaching is the main focus of many present-day relevant research endeavours. Translation pedagogy is one of the areas that has recently enjoyed international attention as it applies to linguistics, translatology, 21st Century education, cultural hybridity and global communication. Language, culture and translation have historically overlapped and shared mutual interests. This is why, classroom practices, especially in the midst of current circumstances, need further mapping; and accounting for them from a comparative approach may shed important light into the strategies applied by tutors in the benefit of students who want to develop high levels of translation competence. For the educational researcher, analysis of teachers’ actions and classroom dynamics may help update key assumptions of teaching procedures and results.

Adrian is part of the Sotckholm University ICER Research Group, which mainly discusses question within the domain of International and Comparative Education.

The study Multicultural Folk high school classrooms & adult migrant learners in the SFI lesson surveys the perceptions of students who learn Swedish as a second (non-native) language in the national language programme as administered by the popular education Study Associations. Given popular adult education's origins in the Scandinavian countries as a unique cultural and historical phenomenon, to account for how such school form features specific pedagogic elements and methods related to liberal, egalitarian and transformational tenets in favour of social justice is of great interest. These principles can have diverse interpretations in today's world against the background of increasingly multicultural classrooms. While the new notions of multiculturalism in education aim at establishing more equality in a globalised world, and thereby help provide better opportunities for students, exploring the perceptions students have about their own participation in such diverse educational environment are key for designing future directions and renewed foundations for L2 language education.

The study Crossroads between translation pedagogies, translanguaging & 21st-Century education aims at presenting insights about practices of translation teaching across nations in the Nordic and Baltic regions. Translanguaging and the value of translated texts in language teaching are issues that make part of the current debates that revolve around didactic effectiveness and information accessibility. In regard to this, by closely examining the repertoire of instructional strategies used by practitioners of language and translation pedagogies, the aim of this project is to contribute to the body of knowledge in the fields of descriptive pedagogy, teacher training and curriculum design as they apply to teaching in this field.
