About me

Claes Granmar is assocaite professor and specialises in European Law (EU law and the ECHR-system) at the Faculty of Law. Claes is a Honorary Fellow of Melbourne Law School, Australia, 2019. He is also alumni at Oxford University, the UK, where he was a visiting fellow at the Institute for European and Comparative Law (IECL) 2017/2018 and where he was a member of the SCR at Lady Margret Hall. Claes has earlier been a visiting researcher at the Houser Global Law School Program, New York University, USA, and at the Max Planck Institute in Munich, Germany. Claes wrote his dissertation on trade mark rights and brand competition at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, Italy, and at Stockholm University. in the course of writing the dissertation, Claes also worked for half a year as a trainee at the EFTA-Court in Luxembourg. After defending his disseratation at the EUI, Claes broadened his field of interest and is specialising in EU internal market law and EU external trade relations from a "constitutional" EU law perspective. He is for the time being specialising in global digitisation. Claes is course director of the undergraduate course in European law and for the elective courses in EU internal market law and EU external trade relation law and policy. Claes is also head of the Nordic Moot Court Competition in human rights law and the eclective course in this field. Claes was director of studies 2015-2017 and is union representative since 2016.
