About me

I am a doctoral student at the department of Human Geography at Stockholm University. I hold a bachelor’s degree from Leiden University and a master’s degree from the Centre of African Studies at the University of Copenhagen.

With my PhD project, currently entitled Memories of Anticipated Futures: Interpreting Algiers’ PostColonial Urban Landscapes, I research how hopes and promises for the future after independence are being remembered in the present by citizens in Algeria through their interpretation of spaces and materialities. The aim is to better understand how the promises and imagined possibilities of the postcolonial are remembered in the present – decades after independence – through interpretations of spaces and materialities and the vestiges of colonialism and performances of the decolonial they materialise.
