Khaleda Gani Dutt
About me
Khaleda Gani Dutt has completed her doctoral studies in International and Comparative Education and is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Special Education, Stockholm University.
She lectures in the advanced courses on Inclusive Education, Special Education programs focusing on inclusion, gender equality within international and comparative perspectives. She is also a member of the Nordic Comparative and International Education Society (NOCIES), Swedish South Asian Research Network (SASNET), Stockholm Centre for Global Asia and Nordic Centre in India (NCI). Her ongoing collaboration with the Indian Institute of Cerebral Palsy (IICP) in Kolkata, India resulted in the conference entitled, Bridging the Gaps- Moving Towards Greater Inclusion organized November 14 & 15 2022. This was the first time that the Department of Special Education, Stockholm University coordinated and organized a conference in India.
Khaleda’s background is international, she has a Masters Degree in History from Jadavpur University, Kolkata India, complemented by a second Master’s Degree in International and Comparative Degree from the Institute of International Education (IIE) which was one of the few institutes in the Nordic countries specializing in International and Comparative Education. She continued her doctoral studies at the Department of Education, Stockholm University and her dissertation highlights the importance of literacy for rural women which is a critical factor to break intergenerational poverty.
Khaleda has been fortunate to be able to continue her passion to work with stakeholders, students, professional both in India and Stockholm University. Being attached with Stockholm University both as a student and presently as staff has given her the platform to reach out to the marginalized and bring together people sharing the same vision and passion. The years at the Department of Education, Stockholm University enabled her to learn, evolve and hone her skills as a global citizen. For her the rights of every child is critical and most importantly is finding the ways that one is able to reach the unreached, the voiceless and the marginalized that often hide in the shadows.
