About me

Matilda Miljand is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Political Science, Stockholm University. She is currently involved in two research projects led by Professor Karin Bäckstrand: “Transformative Partnerships for Sustainable Development” and “EU-Climatic – Rising to the Challenge of the Climate Transition”.

Her research explores how multi-stakeholder partnerships can drive progress toward the UN’s Agenda 2030 and how the European Union can ensure a just and inclusive climate transition. More broadly, she is interested in the governance of sustainability and the role of collaboration, knowledge, and evidence in shaping effective climate action.

Matilda earned her PhD in Political Science from Umeå University, where her doctoral thesis examined how to strengthen evidence-based environmental management, with a particular focus on the use of systematic review methods.

She has taught courses in environmental politics and research methods, and she supervises both bachelor’s and master’s students.
