About me

I am a Postdoctoral researcher in Eva Hedlund’s lab. During my PhD I have been studying the role of EN1 homeoprotein on mice spinal motoneurons where it acts as a neurotrophic agent. I’ve been exploring the use of EN1 as a therapeutic homeoprotein in the lethal motor neuron disease ALS. I am currently investigating the mechanisms of selective neuronal vulnerability and resilience seen in ALS using neurons specified from human-induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) where disease-causing mutations have been introduced. The lab developed the LCM-seq and Axon-seq methods to unravel motor neuron diversity in response to disease to discover mechanisms that can be targeted by different approaches to render neurons more resistant.
