About me
I am a chemist working at the interface between organic chemistry, sustainable chemistry and materials science. My research is mainly focused on developing more efficient heterogeneous catalysts for reactions in organic chemistry with the goal of making organic chemistry more sustainable. In particular, we perform mechanistic investigations to guide the design of new solid materials that can catalyze challenging organic reactions more efficiently than homogeneous catalysts. This holistic approach provides an interdisciplinary environment in which researchers can develop multiple skills and collaborate with other scientists.
During my career, I have carried out several research projects on 5 different countries (Spain, Italy, United Kingdom, Sweden and Switzerland) and 7 different research institutions. This have helped me shape my vision of science and create an international network. I have been involved in projects spanning several disciplines including computational chemistry, materials synthesis, heterogeneous catalysis, homogeneous catalysis, polymer synthesis and sensing, among others.
After finishing my BSc in Chemistry at University of Salamanca (2013), I moved to Valencia to carry out a MSc in Sustainable Chemistry (2014). In 2014, I was awarded a Fellowship from the Spanish government, and I enrolled the PhD program in Sustainable Chemistry at the Institute of Chemical Technology (ITQ, Valencia) under the supervision of Prof. Avelino Corma and Prof. Antonio Leyva-Pérez. In 2019, I joined the group of Prof. Bill Morandi at ETH (Zurich) as a postdoctoral research assistant where I worked in the synthesis of new porous polymers and performed mechanistic investigations for reversible metal-catalyzed reactions.
In September 2023, I joined Stockholm University as an Assistant Professor to start my research group in the Department of Organic Chemistry supported by the WISE Materials program.
