About me

Rense Nieuwenhuis is a quantitative sociologist interested in economic inequality from a gender perspective. Of particular interest are the interplays between demographic trends and policy developments. He publishes on family policies, European 'social investment', single parents, economic inequality and poverty, and statistical tools. He is the co-editor of The triple bind of single parents. In 2014 he obtained a Phd ('Cum Laude') from the University of Twente in the Netherlands, and currently he is an associate professor at the Swedish Institute for Social Research (SOFI).
