Research
My field of research is related to narratology and literary analysis in Modern Arabic Fiction. I have been working on the techniques of beginning and their evolution in the Arabic novels of the 20th century. Within a narratological approach I have conducted research on the despotic charceters in a selection of novels, on the literature of exile, and on various issues related to gender and feminism in literature. In my ongoing research, I am exploring the function and representation of death and spaces dedicated to mortality in various contexts in contemporary and modern novels, including Iraqi fiction. I'm also editing and contributing in a volume about food in Modern Arabic literature.
