Tore NilssonSenior lecturer, Assistant Head of Department, Director of studies
About me
I’m a senior lecturer in learning and teaching modern languages and I have been working at Stockholm University since 2012. In addition to my teaching and research duties, I’m also head of PhD studies in language education.
I’m a qualified teacher in English and German with extensive experience in teaching adult ESP courses in higher vocational study programs. At our department teach language education courses on all levels, at present primarily on the bridging teacher education program for students with prior subject studies.
My research interests include primarily three areas:
- (student) language teachers’ professional development and teacher cognition
- active and flipped language learning and language teacher education
- teaching and learning grammar
I’m also interested in pedagogical development and I have been actively involved in various projects for the development of teaching and learning in higher education since 2017. I currently give workshops on digital active learning through the Centre for the Advancement of University Teaching at Stockholm University. Together with professor Una Cunningham I’m now also involved in developing a free open online course for language teachers called CIRCLE – Current inquiry and research conversations in language education.
