Research project Word Up! Creating a researcher-teacher dialogue on L2 vocabulary learning
The project Word Up! aims to present research on vocabulary learning from second language acquisition to language teachers and then create conditions for them to apply it in their teaching practice and evaluate the outcomes.
The project is a collaboration between language education researchers and language teachers. The focus is on how theories and empirical studies on vocabulary learning can be made accessible for language teachers and implemented in their teaching of English or modern languages such as Spanish, German or French.
Word Up! is a model that comprises six steps. In short, the steps mean that the researchers present theoretical concepts about vocabulary learning to the teachers who in pairs discuss, implement and evaluate the concepts in their teaching practice on two occasions. The data of the project are audio-recorded discussions between the teacher pairs and the written evaluations after the implementation.
