Research seminar: Age effects on speech: Patterns of variability and stability
Seminar
Date: Monday 15 April 2024
Time: 15.00 – 16.30
Location: Department of Linguistics, Room C307
Dr. Anne Hermes, Researcher (CRCN) at Laboratoire de Phonétique et Phonologie, UMR 7018, CNRS/Sorbonne-Nouvelle, presents at the seminar.
As of 2021, more than 20% of people in Europe were over 65 years old. While there exists quite an amount of research in language acquisition, i.e., on the development of linguistic structures, we are dealing with a lack of research on language “decay". The goal of this talk shed light on what linguistic structures are stable and what structures are more vulnerable to change with age.
The seminar will be held in English.
Anne Hermes is a researcher (CRCN) at Laboratoire de Phonétique et Phonologie (UMR 7018, CNRS/Sorbonne-Nouvelle). Her research combines theory construction for linguistic phenomena with experimental explorations of speech production in different languages and populations.
