The Office of Cultural Diplomacy of the Philippines has rewarded seed funding for a Philippine Studies initiative proposed by Birgit Tremml-Werner to be hosted at Stockholm University.

This is a follow-up initiative of the prestigious Philippine Studies program that has been established at various universities in Europe, Asia and the Americas since 2017. In the spirit of the initiator of the program, Senator Loren Legarda, who has tirelessly stressed the importance of fostering stronger global connections through knowledge exchange and education, Birgit Tremml-Werner has set the agenda for the Philippine History Forum in dialogue with colleagues at Philippine and Nordic universities.

The educational pilot project called Philippine History Forum is the first Philippine Studies initiative in the Nordic countries.

Students at all levels are invited to take part in special seminars with leading international historians, a film screening at the Film Institute, and an online global classroom series with students based at universities in the Philippines.

Details on all upcoming events can be found in the calendar.

The Philippine History Forum is organized by Birgit Tremml-Werner, in collaboration with Ariel C. Lopez, and Nadi Tofighian.
