Research subject Investigative Journalism, Disinformation, and Digital Source Criticism
Examining those in power, and exposing abuses of power, are primary missions of journalism. Therefore, the subjects of critical scrutiny as well as the methods used for investigative journalism are recurring themes in JMK’s research.
Here, questions about journalistic authority and moral power are put to the test through studies of interview techniques and journalistic dramaturgy. Moreover, today's digital media landscape has brought significant challenges for journalism regarding fact-checking. Research on source criticism and digital image verification highlights journalism's challenges in handling strategic disinformation and manipulated images.
