AdaptiveTarget: Accessing haplotype variation at complex loci with optimized targeting and adaptive sampling

Plants are host to a wealth of microbes, both beneficial and antagonistic, and these may be found both on aboveground plant structures and in the roots.

I am fascinated by the spatial and eco-evolutionary dynamics of host-parasite interactions. We do lack some generality though: many of the existing studies have (for good reasons!) focused on single pathogen species, and on non-systemic diseases with high extinction-colonization rates.

Supergenes are clusters of genes that can maintain favorable trait combinations because they are inherited as a unit. Studying supergenes allows us to address fundamental questions on the origin and evolution of multi-trait adaptations and is therefore of broad significance.

A large-scale insect collection project taking place in Sweden and Madagascar. The main aim of the project is to describe in detail the insect faunas of these two biologically and geologically very different countries.

There is currently a pressing need to adapt crops to future climates by breeding drought- and heat-resilient varieties. Wild crop relatives harbor untapped genetic variation for breeding but remain underutilized due to the lack of efficient methods to identify beneficial variants in collections.
