Research subject Popular Culture and Celebrity Studies
The field of popular culture can be seen as a playground for different ideologies, where short-lived trends as well as persisting cultural patterns are represented and formed.
At JMK, this research is focused on the intersections between popular culture, political communication and propaganda; on media-driven affects in the borderland of psychology and neuroscience; on popular cultural genres in new media technologies and media platforms; and on critical content studies from gender and intersectionality perspectives. In addition, the field contains contemporary and historical celebrity studies (including royalty), and research on sports, fan culture and popular media use.
