This project aims to provide the first comprehensive economics evaluation of Higher Vocational Education (Yrkeshögskolan). Four separate studies test if HVE influences participant’s labor earnings, participant’s likelihood of employment, occupational or geographical mobility, and the marginal participant’s labor earnings.

We propose a set of empirical studies that further our understanding of gender differences in labor market outcomes. Drawing on our previous work, we study how economic gender gaps are affected by referral-based hiring, the gender composition of groups, and gender stereotypes.

This project studies how the design of the asylum process and introduction programs can help to facilitate rapid and effective integration.

Living conditions from adolescence to old age for people with disabilities: A life-cycle analysis of working life, education, health, and family In this project we study education, health and labor market outcomes for people with physical, mental or intellectual disabilities.

Like many other countries, Sweden has implemented market-oriented schooling reforms through school choice, competition from private providers, and the increased use of standardized testing and early grading. The goal of the project is to determine how such reforms affect teachers' mental health, sick absence and mobility.

A study of measures in the establishment mission and how these affect employers’ recruitment decisions. The integration of refugees into the regular labor market takes a very long time. After eight years in Sweden, only about half are employed. The objective of the project is to study refugees' path towards employment the first years after arrival.

Economic inequality across the population implies vastly unequal opportunities in many dimensions that can impact an individual’s chance of entering the justice system. One such channel via which this can occur – even holding criminal behavior constant – is unequal treatment by agents of the justice system (e.g. police).

We study how stereotypes and discrimination create persistent economic inequality at three key stages of individuals’ lives: university admissions, choice of a field of study, and labor market entry.

A dataset to study the causal effects of university education, exploiting a statistical technique called regression discontinuity. I study the returns to education (in terms of earnings and wealth), educational spillovers between siblings and across generations, and how university education can influence health and social preferences.

In this project, we study how others are affected when one person experiences a large, positive change in wealth in the form of a lottery win. We consider multiple outcomes, including criminal behavior, political participation and family formation.
