Economic history and global political economy
The course provides an introduction to economic history and international relations.
Particular emphasis is placed on the evolution of the world economy and on the economic ideas over the last 200 years. In addition, an overview of the basic features of modern global political economy is given. The course is given both as a single subject course and as part of the Bachelor's Programme in International Business and Politics at Stockholm Business School.

Course structure
Module 1: World Economic History, 7.5 ECTS credits
The module provides an overview of the main features of the world's economic history through several millennia, with emphasis on the period after the Industrial Revolution.
Module 2: Economic Thought in World History, 7.5 ECTS credits
A broad overview of the history of economic thought: the evolution of economic theories in relation to changes in the real-world economy with an emphasis on modern times.
Module 3: Business and Financial Crises, 7.5 credits
The module provides a long-term perspective on the history of entrepreneurship and its conditions, with a particular focus on financial crises.
Module 4: Globalization and global political economy, 7.5 credits
This module is an introduction to Global Political Economy (GPE). A deeper understanding is given of different concepts and theoretical perspectives within GPE. The focus is on the post-World War II era.
