Research Frontiers in Financial Economics

The course deals with various important themes in finance, such as sustainability in financial economics and alternative investments. The focus of the course is on themes that reflect development on financial markets and financial decision-making. The course also addresses the challenges which arise as a result of these.

The overall aim of the course is to give students a deeper understanding for financial concepts, the underlying theories and the application of the selected themes.

The course further aims to develop the ability to critically examine the opportunities and challenges they entail for investors, companies and society at large. The course provides a suitable foundation for students who want to specialize in one or more of the themes covered.

  • Course structure

    Teaching format

    The teaching consists of lectures, seminars and group exercises, as well as a significant proportion of self-studies.

    Language of instruction is English.

    Teaching takes place on campus, supplemented with digital resources with the intention of generating the highest possible educational quality.

    For more detailed course information, refer to the course's study guide, published in the learning platform no later than one month before the start of the course.

    Assessment

    The examination takes place continuously through the course's various learning activities. The examination elements are weighted in relation to weight and importance for the overall examination of the course. The student's results from the various the examination elements are added up to a course point which is translated into a final grade.

    The course consists of the following weighted examination elements:
    1. Individual written exam
    2. Group task

    The examination takes place in English.

  • Schedule

    The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.

    Note that the course literature can be changed up to two months before the start of the course.
