Advanced Financial Theory

The overall aim of the course is to advance students’ understanding of financial theory. The course provides a thorough understanding of main advances in the central concepts of financial theory.

The course is designed for those with demonstrated finance skills who wish to deepen their knowledge of finance and develop a specialization in one or more sub-disciplines of finance and financial data analytics.

The course also provides an appropriate foundation for students intending to proceed to the PhD program in Finance.

  • Course structure

    Teaching format

    The teaching consists of lectures, computer lab exercises, and group work, and requires a significant portion of self-study on the part of students.

    The language of instruction is English.

    Teaching takes place on campus, supplemented with digital resources with the intention of generating the highest possible educational quality.

    Assessment

    Assessment for the course will be continuous and is carried throughout the different course activities. Each assessment task is weighted in relation to its importance in the overall assessment of the course. The student’s results from the different assessment tasks are added up to a total course score that will then translate into the final grade for the course.

    The course’s assessment criteria, which serve as support for the assessment of the course’s assessment tasks, are announced at the start of the course.
