Theoretical and Historical Perspectives On New Media
Advanced level course in Cinema Studies, 50% pace, taught in English. The course offers critical and analytical tools for studying the moving image in today's changing media landscape.
The media theoretical perspectives that are discussed can open up historical comparisons and parallels between today's media culture and media in other periods. During the course, current research on contemporary changes in the media and new media phenomena are studied. Special attention is paid to how digital media platforms and media formats challenge conventional understanding of the specificity of the film medium and representational strategies.
This course is also optional MA-level course for studentes in the Master's Programme in Cinema Studies.
