Translation of Korean literature

The course offers an overview of different translation theories and methods and discusses how these can be applied to translation from Korean to Swedish. The theoretical and methodological introduction is followed by practical translation practice.

For this purpose, a few works of Korean literature will be selected that have not yet been translated into Swedish. These Korean original texts are translated by students and discussed at seminars. Finally, comparisons with already published translations of other Korean literary works are made to assess the quality of the translations.
