Chinese V
The course further consolidates and deepens the knowledge of modern standard Chinese (putonghua).
It exercises the ability to read text as well as the ability to translate and analyze more complicated Chinese texts.

Course structure
The course consists of four modules.
Modules
Practical language skills V, 7.5 credits
The module exercises the student's ability to understand the content of selected audiovisual materials and texts for communicative purposes at a higher intermediate level, to narrate and summarize this orally and to discuss and present selected topics in various contexts with correct sentence structure and character sequence.Extensive text reading, 7.5 credits
The module consolidates and deepens the knowledge of the modern Chinese written language and exercises the ability to read text. It includes text reading, text analysis, grammatical analysis, sign knowledge and presentation of technical texts.Translation in theory and practice. 7.5 credits
This module emphasizes reading, analyzing and translating short Chinese source texts into Swedish/English, but also highlights linguistic and linguistic aspects of the texts. Participants will get to know different genres of Chinese text. The module will also provide an introduction to translation theory.Chinese Studies V, 7.5 credits
The module is a seminar that will focus on varying dimensions of intercultural encounters between the Chinese world and Europe with a special focus on the relations between Sweden and the Chinese world.Teaching format
The teaching of the course modules consists of seminars, group exercises and individual exercises.
Attendance is mandatory.

Assessment
Practical language proficiency V is examined through an oral presentation during the course and a final oral exam at the end of the module.
Extensive text reading is examined through five assignments as well as a final class writing or other form of supervised examination.
Translation in theory and practice is examined through three translation assignments during the course and an assignment that deals with translation theory and contrastive language analysis.
Chinese Studies V is examined by writing a summary in Swedish or English of a Chinese scientific text.
