Embracing and Reflecting on Culture
A course where you learn more about relationships between different cultures and how we can communicate efficiently between cultures. You learn about various themes related to culture, language, communication, and how we can achieve intercultural understanding from an international perspective.
This course is aimed at those interested in intercultural understanding and communication. You will learn more about cultural norms, communication styles, and acquire practical tools and strategies for effective cross-cultural understanding and communication.
You will have the opportunity to - individually and in groups - reflect on and process your own experiences of cross-cultural and cross-linguistic communication, as well as familiarize yourself with theoretical frameworks for this. Key themes of the course include critical incidents, stereotypes, culture shock, and cultural barriers.
The digital course partly runs parallel with students from other collaborating institutions: Helsinki University, University of Iceland, University of Copenhagen, and Stockholm University.
