Analysis and Processing of Speech
This course introduces the fundamental concepts and methods of speech data analysis and processing. We cover both practical and theoretical methods and demonstrate them with the help of relevant software.
This course is designed to introduce you to the fundamental concepts and methods of speech data analysis and processing. Through a blend of theory and practice, you will explore and understand key techniques in speech processing. The course includes:
- Fundamentals of Speech Analysis - Gain a deeper understanding of how speech data can be processed and analyzed, from estimating loudness and fundamental frequency to more advanced concepts.
- Spectral Analysis and Frequency Domain Processing - you will explore techniques such as Fourier transform, various spectral measures, and how to measure formants to analyze and manipulate speech.
- Digital Filters - you will learn how digital filters function and how they can be used to enhance or modify speech data.
- Cepstral Analysis - you will learn about cepstral analysis and how cepstral coefficients play a crucial role in speech processing.
Throughout the course, we will cover various methods and demonstrate these with relevant software, giving you the opportunity to practically apply your knowledge. Additionally, we will explore these techniques in the light of phonetic phenomena, providing a wider understanding of speech technology.
Analysis and Processing of Speech is a course in our Master's Programme in AI and Language.
