Methodology I
This course is a mandatory part of Master's Programme in Global Media Studies. Only students admitted to the programme can take this course and are registered by the Department.
The course assesses a spectrum of interpretative and explanatory Humanistic and Social Science methodologies used within Media and Communication Studies. The relevance of different methods for the study of media structures, production, content, and audience studies are discussed and critically reviewed during the course.

Course structure
The course run half pace at 50% during second half of the semester.
Instruction is given in the form of lectures and seminars. Attendance is mandatory.
To pass the course the student must have: - a deeper understanding of central scientific epistemology in the subject area; - in-depth knowledge of different types of research methods used in media and communication science.

Assessment
The course is examined through a written assignment in form of take home exam.
