Media and Politics in a Globalizing World
The course contains advanced studies of globalization and mediation processes that are important for the transformation of political and cultural identities

Globalization and the digital revolution have had consequences for the way we understand the media-politics relationship, for the issues that require attention, and for the conceptual repertoire most suitable for such scholarly work.
The course examines the relationship between media and political actors in this globalizing, mediated world, employing a comparative approach. Each class will examine the relationship from the perspective of a different set of actors. Through independent reading, lectures, class discussions, group exercises and written assignments, you are encouraged to question your unexamined assumptions and explore the ways in which globalization - conceived as technological, economic, political and societal developments - is affecting and being affected by changes in media and politics.
