Strategic data management
The course describes challenges and opportunities for the public sector related to open and big data.
The course also describes methods and models for open and big data management. The students will carry out assignments by analysing data.
Course content:
- Data strategies in organisations.
- Key concepts in the governance and management of data in an organisation (Data Governance and Data Management).
- Key concepts in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data and Open Data.
- Methods, tools, models and IT techniques to manage, process, control and analyse data, as well as to support decision-making.
- Methods for developing a data-driven and evidence-based organisation that takes organisational, ethical and societal aspects into account.

Teaching format
The teaching consists of lectures and seminars.
The language of instruction is English.
A number of the lectures are pre-recorded and will be given remotely.Assessment
The course is examined through:
- Knowledge test which consists of a series of subtests that are carried out individually online and a series of seminars that are carried out continuously during the course period.
- On-campus written exam.
