Welcome activities

Stockholm University organises a series of welcome activities that stretch over a few weeks at the beginning of each semester. The programme is voluntary (attendance is optional) and includes Arrival Service at the airport and an Orientation Day, see more details about these events below.

With a focus on literature from the Romance language area, the course presents the historical, aesthetic, and sociocultural factors that influence literary circulation. Based on a theoretical framework of world literature, translation studies, reception, and literary mediation, various aspects of the conditions for the dissemination of Romance literature are highlighted and problematized. The course also provides insights into the factors that affect how literature from the Romance language area circulates in the field of world literature, such as intercultural actors and networks, literary prizes, national vs international literary canon.
