New Dramaturgies I
The course provides knowledge of new dramaturgies and how these are practically used in the performing arts and at various cultural institutions. It is part of the International Master's Programme in Performance Studies.
The students study different forms of dramaturgy within performing arts and cultural institutions and independent professional performing arts groups as well as the impact that digital and social media can have on dramaturgy. The focus is on how a performing arts event is developed, carried out and designed to meet an audience and create different emotional and intellectual experiences for this audience. Special attention is paid to audience participation in a performing arts event and to different ways of developing diverse audience groups. Dramaturgy is understood and applied in a broad way that includes the entire production process from working with a text and rehearsals to the production itself, its reception and social impact. This also includes questions about organization, marketing, performing arts criticism, venue and theatre architecture.
