Programmes and courses at the Stockholm University Department of Human Geography are frequently organised in cooperation with other departments at the University. For our programme students it is also be possible to follow courses organised at other departments. Thus, when you enrol in a programme at our department it means that you will get into contact with teachers and researchers from a wider area of the University.
The courses in the Department of Human Geography are designed based on our research profiles. These profiles and research collaborations can be summarized in four themes.
- The Stockholm Urban and Regional Research Environment (SURE)
- Historical Geography and Landscape Studies
- Population Geography, Migration and GIS
- Urban Africa
It is up to you to choose if you want to develop a more wide master and study courses in several of these research profiles or if you want to specialize in one profile. A 30 credits (about 20 weeks) thesis work is a mandatory element in a degree. In addition, the programmes contain a number of compulsory courses and elective courses.
