Evening course Jordens klimat och klimatförändringar

The course describes how the large-scale circulation in the atmosphere and ocean creates the Earth’s climate zones and central climate processes: energy transports, radiation balance, greenhouse effect and climate variations. Furthermore the basic outlines for weather forecast models and climate models are presented, as well as scenarios for the future climate. A key subject is the anthropogenic effects on the Earth’s climate, mainly through emission of greenhouse gases. The course is given in Swedish only.

The course is given every spring semester.

Evening course Vädrets makter

The course contains the outlines of the physical processes which, applied to the atmosphere, can describe what happens in the lower parts of the atmosphere (below 10 km). Examples of the content are radiation processes, clouds and precipitation processes, laws for the horizontal and vertical movements in the atmosphere, El Nino and the structure of synoptical weather systems. Furthermore meteorological observations and different kinds of weather maps are discussed. The course is given in Swedish only.

Evening course Oceanografins grunder

The oceans cover 71% of the total area of the Earth. It is therefore not surprising that the oceans exercise a great influence on the climate and living conditions on the Earth. But how do the oceans really work? What controls them? How do they interact with the rest of the climate system? The course is given in Swedish only.
